Alma team members have supported the leadership development team at Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) for several years. Early in the district's principal pipeline initiative, Monica and her team supported HCPS in developing a comprehensive principal recruitment strategy and a new recruitment, screening, and selection processes at four stages of the principal pipeline: teacher leaders, assistant principals, aspiring principals, and principals.
The Alma team also supported the district’s principal supervisors, Area Superintendents, by developing a new competency framework to better define their role, and supporting and training them as they worked to assess principal development needs and make strategic decisions about how to support, develop, retain or plan for the succession of principals in each region.
In the 2016-17 school year, Alma was honored to support HCPS in its efforts to provide timely, relevant, and job-embedded professional development for teachers and leaders. Our work focused on defining the tools and routines needed at the area level to align school improvement planning, goal setting, and professional development processes in schools.
