Audrey KS Lane
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Audrey KS Lane is entering her 12th year in public education. She is also the founder and CEO of Lane Equity Enterprises, a management consulting firm with expertise in the areas of talent pipeline development, leadership development, strategy, and project management with a focus on understanding and implementing solutions that lead with equity, diversity, and inclusion. Most recently, Audrey is working to influence the landscape of Charleston, SC’s public education system by co-founding a non-profit organization known as E3 (Educate, Empower, and Elevate). E3 is a women-owned, minority organization with an intentional focus on creating high quality school options for students of color with the desires and needs of parents and families at the center of this work.
Prior to her current roles, she was the Chief of Access & Equity for the SC Public Charter School District (SCPCSD). In this role, she was focused on ensuring academic success for ALL children of the Charter School District by removing unintentional or intentional barriers that prevent every child from receiving an equitable, fair public-school education. Before joining the SC Public Charter School District, Audrey was the Deputy for Human Capital Development for the Charleston County School District (CCSD). She worked to link the performance of the organization and its’ dedicated workforce to the student outcomes of Charleston County’s more than 46,000 students. Audrey’s portfolio with CCSD included the Offices of School Choice, Teacher Quality & Recruitment, Employee Relations, Grants/Development, and Strategy/Communications.
Her father’s commitment to educate ALL children regardless of race or zip code lives within her every day and is what ultimately led her back to SC as the Charleston County School District’s first Broad Resident for Urban Education. This program recruits mid-level public and private sector leaders to utilize their knowledge and skillset to improve America’s public education system. Prior to relocating to Charleston in 2008, Audrey was a Business Development & Commercial Coordinator within the U.S. Pipelines and Logistics Organization of BP North America, Product Development Leader with International Paper and began her career as a Mechanical Engineer with Xerox in a technical leadership program for women of color.
Audrey is a proud 1996 Mechanical Engineering graduate of Florida A&M University, earned a Master of Business Administration degree from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and is a 2010 graduate of the Broad Residency for Urban Education. While at FAMU, Audrey was a Presidential Scholar; sang in the renowned FAMU Gospel Choir where she served on the Executive Board; served as the President and Vice-President of the National Society of Black Engineers; worked as a camp counselor for the program that introduced her to FAMU, the Engineering Concepts Institute (ECI) and volunteered with the Student Government Association.
Audrey makes the time to be involved in her local community and church either through her work as a member of the Health Advisory Committee with the Trident United Way, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Black Box Booster Club of the School of the Arts, and after all these years still loves a good Sunday School class.
Although she is extremely dedicated and focused on the work that she’s been blessed to do-her greatest joy comes from being a wife, partner, and friend to Martin and the mother of Moses and Micah.
